Archimedes Foundation has been nominated as the Estonian National Contact Point Organisation for EU Sixth Framework Programme and thus is having responsibility for coordination and promotion of Estonian participation in FP6. Concerning FP6 Archimedes Foundation is responsible for the following tasks:

• To disseminate information about EU programmes to interested organisations and to act as National Contact Point for Sixth Framework Programme of EU Research and Technological Development;
• To act as consulting body for project proposal writers;
• To implement specific projects so as to enhance the innovation capacity of Estonian scientific community.

The Foundation has gained an extensive experience in FP5 and FP6 by being involved as a project coordinator as well as partner in several FP projects. In addition to this hands-on experience Archimedes has organised numerous workshops for the Estonian scientific community and raised awareness in consistent manner to increase Estonian participation in FP. As NCP organisation depends very much on the operating environment on the whole, we have committed efforts onto changing the environment by involving decision makers into our activities, by conducting sectorial innovation system analyses and foresight practices. All these means have served as an input material for the decision makers to facilitate the emergence of higher knowledge base in the society, by which we could also enjoy potentially higher participation in FP6 structures as well.

Archimedes is also the co-ordinator of COST—European Cooperation in the field of Scientific and Technical Research and eContent programme in Estonia. Besides, Archimedes is the implementing body for Socrates and Youth Programmes and the host of Estonian Research Information System. Archimedes is entitled to organize the activities of the Higher Education Quality Assessment Centre.
